A single generally seen type of polymorphic ventricular tachycardia is torsades de pointes. Torsades and other polymorphic ventricular tachycardia are sophisticated rhythms that require additional skilled and expert discussion is encouraged.
If polymorphic ventricular tachycardia is secure the ACLS tachycardia protocol should be used to handle the patient. Unstable polymorphic ventricular tachycardia is dealt with unsynchronized shocks (defibrillation). Defibrillation is utilized due to the fact synchronization is not possible.
