Electrophysiological testing one of the
ventricular tachycardia treatments and is invasive test (similar to heart catheterization), in which the local anesthetic through a vein in the groin comes with probes (catheters) into the heart and in certain places the typical ECG recording in the heart. It is sometimes of great importance in order to set the correct diagnosis (there are arrhythmias in which this is possible only in this way) and accurately describe the electrical system of the heart and its possible interference. During the procedure can cause arrhythmia and stop by the patient then recognized as a problem.
It is an extremely safe procedure with an extremely rare complication. Today the tests in most cases associated with therapeutic intervention during the same procedure, which is called
catheter ablation.
